A Scenic Railway Journey

After breakfast, we boarded ths bus this morning for our journey to the mountain train.  We arrived at the train station and had a little extra time before departure so we set out to find Mr. Spencer's favorite destination--a Greek bakery! We didn't have to walk far until we found a couple of fabulous bakeries.  It was warm, gooey chocolate croissants, fresh donuts and cheese pies for everyone.

We returned to the train station to board our train up the mountain.  It was a beautiful journey with amazing scenery.

We arrived at the beautiful resort town of Kalavrita after our steep climb up the mountain. It was time for a lunch break.  We all set out to find some great food, and many of us ended up at a small shop that sold delicious gyros. Everyone really enjoyed them.

Some of our boys challenged some local boys to a game of football.  They all had a great time with cheering for both sides no matter who scored.

We were then able to sing in the town square for the mayor of the city.

After our performance, we boarded our buses for an exciting ride down a steep, winding road to the bottom.  It was worth it however because of the beautiful views.

On the way back to our hotel,we decided to make an adventurous stop at a Greek grocery store for some snacks and drinks.  The kids had a great time exploring the store and choosing something to buy.  A large loaf of bread and some Nutella spread was a big hit.

We arrived back at the hotel with time to swim and relax.  The kids had a great time playing pool games, jumping off the dock, and playing tennis and soccer. Dinner by the pool finished off a great evening.

We finished the evening watching some World Cup soccer cheering on Chile.

Goodnight everyone! More adventures await in the morning.
